Electrician

Overview

The main purpose of the Chief Electrician on board is to oversee and maintain all the electrical equipment through the ship and the Engine Room. The First Electrician is responsible for electrical maintenance on-board and daily reporting to Chief Electrician. Their duties include the maintenance of high and low-voltage electrical facilities in the engine room and in the Hotel zone. He/She collaborates and assists the chief Electrician for the maintenance of Main Electrical Equipment as alternators, main propulsion motors, etc., and to ensure safe and secure supervision of the work performed by the electricians. He/She is supported by the Electricians in all activities related to electrical operations and maintenance of the ship.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.
  • Remain in compliance with the current National Electric Code.
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches, and switch gears.
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs.
  • Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs, and test for adequate operation.
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects.
    Survey electrical systems, circuits, and plans.

Requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Experience of at least 5 years
